I love night

I love working hard during the day
Then watching the sun grow dim
Until the pitch of night takes over
So I can climb into my bed
Snuggle under the covers
Be horizontal at last
Stretch and relax and sigh
Rest my eyes and my muscles

There's a great pleasure in staying up
Pursuing the completion of a task
But perhaps even greater to turn out the light
Feel the palpable darkness all around
Succumb to the tiredness
Take the sleep that's due me
Knowing God's never tired
Never sleeping, always on watch
When I'm not

"He who watches over you will not slumber; indeed, He who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep."
Psalm 121:3-4
"I lie down and sleep; I wake again, because the LORD sustains me."
Psalm 3:5
