Homemade Blueberry Pie

[this was supposed to be published July 27th, but I guess I mistakenly saved it as a draft instead a published opus...]

Blueberries were "buy a pound and a half and get another pound and a half for free" at Safeway this week, so Emily and I had fun baking a pie. It may have been my first blueberry pie (and I think my first lattice top). I am more of an apple or pumpkin pie, or uncooked-berry tart, person. I usually don't like berry pie (but I knew my boys would), but I ended up enjoying it. I think when it is served in restaurants, I am just leery of what exactly that purple goo is made of. What kind of chemicals are in there? But since I knew the sum total of the ingredients in my pie, I felt better eating it. One thing I do like about fruit pies is that they are considered by our family to be fair game for any meal or snack of the day. After dinner and breakfast, it's about disappeared! :-)
