Gva Differences Now Vs. Then

gva_flags

Some things that are different about Geneva, Switzerland, now than when I lived there in 1972-89:

- they have Domino's Pizza
- there are cell phones everywhere (but that's a change all over the world I suppose)
- at my high school (Ecolint), they built a new cafeteria at the top of the hill overlooking the sports field and it seems to me there didn't use to be a 3rd floor on the "Salève" math/science/music/geography building (but I could be remembering wrongly)
- the tram (little city train) has an electronic display featuring a website
- the outlying villages are much more built-up
- if you climb to the top of the Salève mountain, they serve Lion King ice cream cups as part of a children's meal, with a pawprint of chocolate that goes all the way to the bottom, surrounded by vanilla
- you can buy Pepperidge Farm cookies at a regular grocery store (more's the pity)
- La Siesta, practically our favorite restaurant to go to when Dad was out of town, has moved :-(
- the flower clock's numbers are escaping
horloge_fleurie
- I don't live there

Things that are the same:

- lots of smoking
- lots of construction
- great food
- beautiful scenery
- fun cathedral to climb and admire
gva_rose_window
- a place I think I'd enjoy living

P.S. David S., tell me what I'm missing... ;-)
