The Transfer

So Jason came safely home from camp, having had "a blast" for two weeks. He looked healthy, well exercised, with color in his face and a relaxed smile. His voice sounded completely different. Who is this guy? From all his stories, it sounded like he had a lot of fun, weathered some difficulties, and made good choices in our absence. He became a non-complaining, long-haul hiker who even cheerfully carried the picnic lunch for all four of us, along with his own gatorade. How grown-up.

In one of his three postcards that we received while he was still at camp, he mentioned that he had lost the address list I had packed for him, and asked for someone's information. The same day, we got a letter from the camp staff talking about how the campers were learning to keep track of their own stuff! Ha! But what was really funny was finding out, when we unpacked his trunk after camp, that he had lost a water canteen and a pair of jeans, the address list was still in his footlocker, and he had brought home two pairs of enormous, unlabelled jeans belonging to someone else!

And this is just the beginning! From here on in you will discover many changes in your son. He has been exposed to the "outside world" and he is going to change the world, as well as be changed by it. Both can be very positive, with God in charge of it all! Keep on your knees for the ride! Wheeeeeee!
