Jason Bourne and Jesus Christ
We had The Bourne Supremacy on our netflix queue and received it the day it came out on DVD. We had seen "The Bourne Identity" at the theatre. I think I saw that first episode twice somehow. I remember being on the edge of my seat during the amazing Mini car chase.
Anyway, David and I found the second movie to be about as excellent as the first. We cuddled up under our warm duvet after the kids were in bed, watching with laptop, headphones and doubler as usual. Despite the warmth of the bedclothes, I was literally shivering with the tension and excitement of the action. Bourne is an expert at getting into and out of impossible situations with ease and ultimate coolness. Just when you think he's done for, you find he was only hanging out until he was ready to leave. A great escape from reality for a couple hours. I wondered briefly if there really are any spies out there as cool as this...But I guess they won't be commenting on my blog to let me know.
It did lead me to think of how nimbly Jesus was able to slip in and out among crowds, purposely lose and find people:
So they asked him, “Who is this fellow who told you to pick it up and walk?”
The man who was healed had no idea who it was, for Jesus had slipped away into the crowd that was there. Later Jesus found him...
(John 5:12-14)They picked up stones to stone him, but Jesus hid himself, slipping away from the temple grounds.
(John 8:59)All the people in the synagogue were furious when they heard this. They got up, drove him out of the town, and took him to the brow of the hill on which the town was built, in order to throw him down the cliff. But he walked right through the crowd and went on his way.
(Luke 4:29-30)
The Ultimate Cool Guy.
