Plenty of Takers
We did end up having our Escalade celebration last night. There was no shortage of takers for the smithereens of excellent chocolate, and the almond paste potatoes, carrots, turnips, tomatoes, and mushrooms likewise. It was as sumptuous as it smelled (although David doesn't like marzipan). We also pulled the little red and yellow party crackers that are included inside the marmite, and read aloud the sentimental French love poetry printed on the little white slips of paper therein (the Genevan equivalent of fortune cookies, I suppose).
