Stanford Likes Homeschoolers

I received in email today a copy of a 2000 article on homeschoolers admitted by Stanford. Interesting reading. "Intellectual Vitality" is what the admissions officers like about homeschoolers in general. They apparently specifically flag and track (or tracked back then anyway) each homeschool application.

I also found a list of Colleges with Homeschool Admission Policies Online, in which Stanford and the U.S. Air Force Academy are included (near the bottom). Neat!

Maybe we will home school through high school after all... ;-)

Thanks for sharing the link to the encouraging Stanford alumni magazine piece. I am surprised that the number of homeschooled applicants was so small (I remember 20 years ago hearing about homeschoolers accepted to Harvard etc.) and I'd be curious to read stats from recent years...and an update on those profiled in the piece. I briefly tried to find something more recent, but without success. Let me know if you do find something.
