japanese moochi?

So now we have had four guesses (by email it was suggested it might be a tennis ball on a birthday cake, or an M&M on a birthday card).

No, it is not a cake, mochi, a tennis ball, an M&M, or a birthday card. Keep guessing...or let me know if you give up and want to know...

A lemon from your tree on a plate full of love?

My next guess is a fruit (lemon from your tree) on a plate full of fruits of the Holy Spirit? How am I doing?
Mom!!!!!!!
Have a great date night! Loved talking with you!

Last night in person some people guessed a lime, an apricot, some playdough, marzipan, or a peeled grape. And then by email another guess was "a lemon on some kind of homemade pottery/plate."

The latter is the closest so far - it is indeed SOMETHING on a homemade plate. The plate is one made from those Mak-It kits you color and send away for baking (http://www.makit.com/). But the plate wasn't at all what I had in mind when I asked the question. I just want you to guess what the thing ON the plate is...and no one has guessed it yet. I'll give you a clue: it is something edible, but not a fruit, nor a dessert of any kind.

boiled egg yolk?

Posted by: jeffy | Mar 19, 2005 10:40:03 AM

HURRAY!!!!! DING DING DING DING DING!!! Jeffy wins the prize!!!!! Wow, I wish I had a prize for you, Jeffy! Congratulations. You are the magical 7th guesser, and with the 11th guess as to the identity of the yellow object poorly photographed in a bad light with a low-quality instrument, you finally cleared up for everyone that it was not mochi, a tennis ball, M&M, lemon, lime, apricot, playdough, marzipan, peeled grape or part of a cake, but rather a whole boiled egg yolk! Emily loves hard-boiled egg white, but carefully leaves the yolk behind - a very healthy practice. And interesting to look at.

Thank you, thank you very much.

After posting my answer, I was reminded of one of the riddles from the game Bilbo and Gollum play in the dark in The Hobbit:

A box without hinges, key, or lid,
Yet golden treasure inside is hid.

And it occurred to me that I should have just said "golden treasure" ;-)
