No Figs, Olives, Fields, Sheep or Cattle

Though there are spiders in the toilet
and cockroaches in the garage,
though my nose and upper lip are numb from novocaine
and the "final" dental appointment wasn't,
though my husband has to travel on business
and it's raining all the time,
yet I will rejoice in the Lord,
I will be joyful in God my Savior.

The Sovereign Lord is my strength;
He makes my attitude be full of peace,
He enables me to go on adventures with Him.

(my very loose paraphrase of Habakkuk 3:17-19. If you aren't familiar with this passage, do go read it to see the contrast between the original material and my version (and to understand the title)...it's a good one to dwell on :-)

It is the very verse God gave to me after your dad passed away, January 13th, 1994. Prior to that, my favorite verse had been Zephaniah 3:17, the book of the Bible immediately after the one you paraphrased. Easy to remember and both of them are excellent reminders of our place in His heart, and His, in ours.
