Bob & Larry's New Home
I was shocked and dismayed to read that Big Idea Productions, Inc., the creators of Veggietales kids' videos, went out of business in a bankruptcy lawsuit extravaganza. Thank goodness Veggietales videos are still being made (with the original voice talents), but under new management and with a dramatically reduced staff (something like down from 350 people to 22), now in Tennessee rather than Illinois.
If you're really interested in Veggietales and/or the rise and fall of Christian entertainment companies, and like to read, and have 30-60 minutes, you'll enjoy reading Phil Vischer's painstakingly detailed, entertaining, 22-page tale of how it all happened.
As huge a happening as the whole ballooning and demolition process was to the animation company staff, it seems like it makes little difference to the consumers, since we still get Veggietales videos, the kids' internet game site still exists, and the voices remain the same. The company name only changed from Big Idea Productions, Inc., to Big Idea, Inc. Hardly noticeable. I'm sorry for all those people who lost their jobs, and all the pain. But I'm glad someone is still making Bob and Larry tell stories.
