Silly (but True) Story for Today

I got ready for the same church service twice today.

The first time, I was all ready to go, and just popped into the kids' bathroom to make sure they were brushing their teeth. I noticed the shaving cream can on the bath mat where I had left it drying last night (their bathroom hosts the only bathtub in the house). I had disassembled the top of it because it retains water otherwise. So I put it back together, pushing down hard on it...

Shavinggel1Shavinggel2and unexpectedly sprayed strings of blue shaving gel all over the left side of my head. My cheek, and more distressingly, my clean and dry long hair, were quite decorative now. And fragrant.

The first two minutes were fun - I laughed quite hard, and so did the startled kids, looking at me in the mirror. Then I started to wonder what I was going to do, with only minutes remaining until we were supposed to leave. David rightfully told me I'd just have to wash my hair. There was no getting that smell and goo out otherwise. And our church worships in close quarters.

So I started the preparation process all over again, as quickly as possible. But not before Jason gleefully snapped a few photos. Thankfully, we plan in quite a bit of extra time to the schedule, so we only arrived a few minutes late for the actual service (missing the coffee/fellowship time at the beginning).

Thanks for being a good sport and sharing the photos and the story with us. I'm glad you didn't miss too much fo the service, but do you ever wonder if things like that happen so you WON'T be in a certain place at a certain time-if that's one of the ways God's Grace was over all of you today? Just a thought.

That's a great thought, Melene! Wow, neat to ponder. Certainly makes me smile even more at the situation, in a nicer way. Thanks.
