Back to 30 Seconds

Before I began this weblog in May 2004, I didn't think I would have time to blog. Hence the name of the blog: The 30 Second Blog. That's about how much time I thought I'd have for it. Then of course I found out it was so much fun, and really got into it, spending way more time that that on it. I even blogged through two international moves. But now since school started this year (when you'd think I'd have more time, but no), I have hardly blogged at all.

So I'm thinking I need to revert to the name of the blog, and spend half a minute a day or so posting something, at least for my poor mother who's always checking and being disappointed these days! I have pages of notes I'd like to flesh out (everyone says that, but it's definitely true). But I can't spend the time organizing them yet.

Today's 30 second news: I booked my Theory Test for the UK Driving License. Pray for me on Hallowe'en - or maybe the night before if you're in the U.S., since I sit the test at 8:30am (midnight in California!). If I pass that, I get to book the Practical Test. For the theory test there was a 3.5 week wait in the town nearest us. I hear the wait for the practical is 4-8 weeks. Huh, eight weeks from Hallowe'en is exactly Christmas Day! Funny.

Now that I've completely overdrawn my 30 seconds, I'll go ahead and add in that Jason had his 12th birthday party last night (though his birthday isn't for a few weeks). David, wonderful man that he is, drove five 7th grade boys to Laser Quest in Woking (big town 20 minutes south of us), and ran around in the misty dark maze with them. I love that man. And I am so proud of my son, who found four great boys to invite, after only six weeks at school in a new country. A huge blessing after a challenging friendship year last year in France. Thank you, God in Heaven.

Another big blessing: my brother is coming to visit us over our October break, with his kids. We're looking forward to it!
