Easter Weekend Flower Profusion - LIFE!

God's offer of new life for our hearts is evident everywhere in the garden this Easter weekend: Forsythia bush, tiny grape hyacinths, lilac tree buds, daffodils...

I had fun with this online flower identifier, and it did come up with a flower that looks mighty similar: Dame's Rocket. Except that ours don't seem to have big, hairy leaves... so the jury's out. But it does agree that it's a weed, prohibited in Massachusetts, "invasive and banned" in Connecticut, and classed as a "noxious weed" in Colorado. And it did originate in Europe. Still, it's pretty! I don't mind it in my lawn...the more purple, the better, in my book.

My German friend Birgit figured out that it's actually "Wiesen-Schaumkraut" (Frothy Meadow Weed/Herb, in German)

Cardamine pratensis in the Latin/English, I see.

We'll call it Cardamine. Thank you, Birgit!
