Last night after we picked David up at the airport, we scavenged in the kitchen for some protein, vitamins and starch before allowing ourselves to proceed to the homemade brownie and ice cream course (I have just a little bit of a sweet tooth).
Then we had LOTS of energy....We have two plastic jump ropes: blue and pink. We also have two nylon jump ropes: green and black. Perfect. All four of us began working off the ice cream in the family room/kitchen. I stood between the oven and the counter. David was over by the couch and bookshelf. Jason positioned himself between the table and the other side of the counter. Emily squeezed between the table, the toy chest, and the wall. There, now you can picture the arrangement (uh, yeah...).
And we jumped. Our family is finally old enough for everyone to jump rope. We tried everything: forwards, backwards, criss-cross, one foot, double jump. Then we tried having two people hold the ends of the rope and a person jump in the middle. That was especially fun since there was more personal interaction. As a finale, David and I jumped together while Jason and Emily managed the rope swinging.
What a great way to get exercise as a family at 8pm. With our rainbow family of jump ropes.
P.S. everyone kept their food down...
This is really comment from Grandpa Willliam after I read him the blog (I am perched in the "too tall bed in the too tall house"...overlooking the Rappahannock River in White Stone, VA) as he was delivering me my morning cappuccino...yummy..he said, "May you keep on jumping!!!" We can both picture the scene perfectly and it makes us smile out loud! The family that prays together stays together...the family that jumps together can only go higher and higher in their love for one another... the latter is also from William
