I've heard (via Julie Leung) about the "I'm Blogging This" T-shirt. Do they have a nightgown? (you'll see why I'm asking...)
Commenters on Julie's blog have referred to her prose as "gentle." I would agree, and as of last night I have to add "relaxing and soothing." This is a first - granted, I was still recovering from 9 hours of jet lag - but I actually fell asleep sitting up in bed with my laptop open in front of me, propped up by pillows, in the quiet hours of waiting for my husband to come home late from Spirit West Coast music festival with our son.
I was so amazed to be awakened by David walking into the room, and see that the room was darkened, my computer having silently put itself to sleep along with me. I guess I was in an extremely comfortable position (it helped having all the pillows to myself, I suppose). I do vaguely remember earlier on having trouble keeping my eyes open and reaching desperately to remember what it was I was trying to read (a book? a magazine? Oh, yes, it's something on my computer screen, resting on my lap...).
Anyway, Julie, I love your blog and am working on catching up and reading every word...keep up the lullabys! ;-) You sent me off to a great and refreshing and peaceful night's sleep. Will pick up today where I left off last night.
Wow, thank you for your love and lullaby usage. I love your blog too although I have not read in bed or used it as a sleep aid ;-) If you're at Robert Scoble's shirt from last Saturday's picnic, that's not too many posts to read as catch up! BTW, Scoble's shirt was a Microsoft shirt, with some logo on the back (not an O'Reilly one, I'm sure...but I didn't mention that part.) Your sleep sounds restful and I hope I can get some myself tonight. Sweet dreams!

I think it may have had to do with the words in your post entitled "Caution: slow speeds ahead."
[...] signs commanding STOP or SLOW. [...] Slow and stop [...] slow speeds [...] slowed or stopped [...] SLOW sign tonight. [...] I'm so tired tonight [...] Exhausted [...] slow down. [...] now it is slow. [...] the only sound I hear is an occasional motorcycle hum from the freeway, the distant engines of a jet, the gentle tick of the clock on the wall beside my desk. [...] motionless. In the still of the night....
You see why it was a lullaby! Sounds almost hypnotic excerpted like that. It worked perfectly for a jet-lagged, pillow-propped, dark-roomed, sitting-still, tired person. I'm awake now, though! Livelier comments coming on other posts soon :-)
